Yeah, that was a bad pun. I like puns, jokes, memes, etc. I love to laugh. I also love God, my family, books, cats, and a lot of other things. You'll find out more about me as we go on.
First, what's up with my blog title? It's long been said that preachers' families live in a fishbowl, with their congregations and communities watching. While I don't really feel like that in our current church, I've often felt like I'm always being watched by someone, somewhere, waiting for me to mess up. So, the phrase fits.
Second, a bit about me. I'm currently a stay-at-home mom to my adorable little boy. He's two and a half and has cerebral palsy. So, it's a challenge, but it's worth it. He is so sweet and funny, and has the most engaging personality. That's another aspect of feeling like I'm in a fishbowl - not just parenting in general, but parenting a special needs child. But more on that, later.
As you may have guessed, I'm also the wife of a minister. My husband is about to start his last year of seminary and currently pastors his first church. It's been a great learning experience - everyone is so welcoming and I've made some really good friends. I'm fairly active, volunteering with Vacation Bible School, planning events, and serving as secretary for the United Methodist Women. When my husband accepted his appointment, I was a little nervous that I'd be expected to always be doing stuff at the church. However, the congregation never pressed, just invited.
In my spare time (yes, I do have it!), I love to read. I have quite a few books (sorry, moving men!) and I read all genres. I prefer mystery/suspense and historical fiction, but I love a good story and don't usually pass up anything that sounds intriguing. I also like to craft - mostly jewelry, some crochet, and I've recently begun learning to sew by machine. I inherited my grandmother's sewing machine and although I've only completed one project, I'm looking forward to more. I'm an avid photography hobbyist, as well; I recently was able to upgrade to a digital SLR and am having a lot of fun learning to use it.
So, that's just little taste of my life. In the past, I haven't been very faithful to my blogs and tend to delete them. However, I've felt the need to share my experiences for some reason. Maybe someone out there needs to know that they're not the only one struggling with their child's diagnosis. Perhaps they too, want to know that someone is mad as hell about *insert topic here*. Or possibly, they're just looking for a good book recommendation.
Thanks for stopping by and come back any time!
